Bacon, egg, and cheese on an onion bagel
Posted by Emily under Lunch | Tags: bagels, breakfast for lunch |S. and I had nearly a week of our lives to dissect and hash out and comb through at his kitchen table over cups of hot coffee and bowlful of strawberries, so by the time we left for breakfast it was lunchtime. We intended to go to Bergen Bagels, but halfway down the block we saw D. heading in, and I sure didn’t want that for lunch after an already stressful weekend. Too sad. So we went to La Bagel Delight instead. I had the bacon, egg, and cheese on an onion bagel. S. had a poppy bagel with lox and tomato, no cream cheese. We ate outside. It was warm in the sun, but the breeze was chilly enough that my egg got cold before I was finished. I sort of hated that.

Sunday brunch at home (by myself, thank god) in my jammies: 3 puffy english muffins from Sconehenge, two with blueberry jam and one with honey. Like, 5 cups of coffee. My mother called to be wished Happy Mother’s Day before I had a chance at the first cup. Me: can I call you back after breakfast? She: calls back 3 hours later; “that was some breakfast!” Yup, it was also lunch.

I had lunch REALLY late today–like, after 3pm. That’s late. I had a turkey sandwich. Boring, and I’m still hungry.

Guh. Nothing worse than cold egg.
I had a lovely lunch today, if I may say so. For mother’s day, my dad grilled ribeye steaks (outside! in the rain!), which we enjoyed along side steak fries and corn on the cob. I’m pretty sure I win the prize for Best Lunch Today.

I cannot believe I’m reading, let alone commenting on what you ate for lunch two days ago. Still, I’m jealous of that lunch. Hot tip re cold eggs: eat faster.
